CRICKET GRADING QUESTION SPECIAL MEETING TO BE CALLED "AGREEMENT ON ALL POINTS” ’ The sub-committee oF the Wellington Cricket Association appointed to make inquiries. into a more satisfactory grading system of clubs has not been idle. Under Mr P. B. Broad they have examined the different proposals placed before them, and with a view to sounding the opinions of players have also consulted representatives of the various clubs concerned. On their recommendation the management committee now propose to call a special general t meeting of the association, wlien it is hopQcl that a. scheme will be definitely adopted. The following report will be placed before the meeting:— •'After the sub-committee had begun to consider the different courses open, it became apparent that without, ascertaining the views of thb clubs themselves, little progress could be made, since the members of the sub-committee were divided in opinion, and necessarily felt that any reform desired could be most satisfactorily carried out only in agreement -with the clubs affected. Two conferences were accordingly held, and the whole matter thoroughly discussed. At the second conference the following clubs were represented: Midland, Thorndon, Y.M.C.A., ICilbimie, Hutt, Petone, University, Old Boys and Institute, while the Wellington Club representative, who was present at the first meeting, sent an apology for his unavoidable absence at the second. “I am glad to be able to report that thfe conference of clubs was able to arrive at an agreement on all points, and this was embodied in the following motion, wjiich was unanimously carried: — That this meeting favours a trial of the scheme of dividing the senior championship into A and B sections, the A section to consist of the four leading senior teams this season, and the B section to consist of the last four senior teams and ICilbimie and University. In the event of any two teams tieing this season the management committee shall decide which team* shall go into the A section. At the end of each season's play, the team winning the competition in the B section shall automatically take the place of the bottom team in the A section.
"In view of the unspimity shown by the clubs, the sub-committee adopts the motion as its recommendation to your committee/'
