DRUNKEN MOTOR DRIVER
LICENSE SUSPENDED FATHER OF TEN CHILDREN. ppr Piw A^mHaHou CHRISTCHURCH, July 21. “I always regard these cases as very eerions. because our traffic is almost entirely motor, fast moving and danger, oos if not properly _ regulated. . A drunken man in a vehicle neither gives nor regards signals, and his presence too often leads to accidents. This case has some peculiar features, and makes it difficult to know what to do,” said Mr Wyvorn Wilson, S.M., in suspending the license of Denis Benjamin O’Callaghan, carrier, for one month, and fining him £5 for being drunk while in charge of a motor-lorry. The unnsnal features referred to were that O’Callaghan is the father of ten children, ranging in age from 12 months to 20 years. He is usually abstemious and of good repute, and the major part of his income is derived from carrying work done for a local firm.
