LADY KILTIES
i A NOVELTY TO NEW ZEALAND. | Somehow or other, whether one is \ a Scotchman or not, the sight and . sound of a kilties’ band stirs the mar- i tial blood within one, and sets the ; feet moving. This state of affairs ia * the more accentuated when the “Kilties” happen to be ladies, as is 1 the case with the Australian Scottish Pipe Band at present on a tour of the world, and which is visiting AVellington next week. One might quote from the Australian papers of the success that has attended the visit of the hand to the principal towns of the various States, but we can come nearer home and give an extract from tlie “New Zealand Herald,” .Auckland. That morning daily’s critic said: ‘ Many of the performers are but voting girls, yet they play their parts with the ease whioh comes of a sound knowledge of technique. The piping was in every case greatly appreciated, while the dancing and singing “ felt little to be desired?’ , To-morrow at 3.80 p.m. the Mayor (Mr C. J. B. Norwood) will, on behalf of the citizens, extend a civic welcome to the bonnie lassies from Australia. After the completion of the New Zealand tour it is the intention of the band to visit Suva, Honolulu, Canada, United States of America, Great Britain, and Franco, returning home to Australia via South Africa. Their opening programme in Wellington is being looked forward to with a great deal of expectancy, while the band’s fellow countrymen are making every effort to make the visit of the lassies a memorable one. | THE COIFFURE. i Wherever women of fashion foregather at Bridge, Tea, the Theatre, or Dance, there you will see coiffures of surpassing i beauty made possible, for women with I bobbed hair through the "Covabob.” Obtainable at our rooms. ’Phone 1599.
