There has been little or no change in the price* of household commodities. Butter is Is 8d to Is lOd, cheese Is to Is 4d, bacon Is to Is 6d» but nice boiling pieces at 9d to Is; back bacon is 2d to 3d lb cheaper in tbe piece than sliced. Eggs remain at 2s 9d f and will be steady for a few days. Fish prices are unchanged, tbe main varieties at 6d per lb (whole), or 8d to 9d dressed; flat fish are still dear at Is 4d, smoked fish at Is 2d is not cheap, but there are some nice crayfish at reasonable prices. Fruit and vegetable prices also have not varied, and the meat prices are the same as given on Friday. A careful housewife can make profitable purchases at the butchers. The prices quoted are shop prices, hut at any time two or three can combine and do a little community buying in the fish, fruit, vegetable, and meat markets in Allen street, which will save housewives little sum.
