ACCIDENT ON STEAMER
WATERSIDER FRACTURES LEG LOADING HIDES ON THE KAURI. Shortly after 8 o’clock last evening a watersider named ffm. Jensen, 80 years of ago, married, with three children, and living at No. 48, Mortimer Terrace, had his right leg fractured. It appears that he was work* ing down the after hold of the Union Company’s steamer Kauri, and it was while loading Hides that the accident occurred. A sling of hides was being lowered into the hold* when one of the bags slipped out of the sling and struck Jensen 'on the right leg. Dr. Henry of the R.M.S. Tahiti was immediately sent for, and on examination of the injured man ordered bis removal to the hospital. Jensen was taken there in the Harbour Board’s ambulance. Late last evening the hospital authorities reported Jensen to be resting comfortably.
