DISASTROUS FLOODS
KOREAN CAPITAL CUT OFF HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE. Reuter's Telegram. TOKIO, July 19. There have been great floods in Korea. With tho communications of Seoul, the capital, apparently completely severed, it is impossible at present to ascertain the flood damage there. Such reports as come concur in stating that the. floods are unprecedented, especially in the k suburb of Rynean, Where the river rose 36 feet and broke the embankments. Light, water, and gas are cut off. Troops are assisting in the rescue work, which has been rendered difficult owing to the terrific rush of water. -A special report received by the “Asahi” : from Seoul, by a circuitous route, partially describes the devastation .by the floods at the Korean capital, which is stated to be completely isolated arid without light. It is feared that the casualty list is heavy. (Received July 20, 11.5 p.m.) TOKIO, July 20. The Korean floods ore subsiding, and rescue work is proceeding. The number of casualties is not yet known. The water and electric services are still partially- suspended.
