FATAL FALL
VICTIM PARTIALLY BLIND. Per Press \ * -xHntlnn AUCKLAND, July 19. The death occurred at the hospital last night ‘of Cecil Dane, a shepherd and labourer, aged 33, who fell from Winstone’s jetty, Customs street west, into tihe water yesterday morning. The deceased, who was . partially blind, was employed as a labourer at the Blind Institute, Parnell, and had been delivering goods. He was standing at the end of the jetty when he tripped and fell 12 feet on to a cargo of telegraph poles on the deck of the scow Hero. He rolled into three feet of water and was rescued by the seamen from the scow and taken to the hospital, where death ensued.
