GAME SHOOTERS
LICENSE RIGHTS EXCEEDED FINES IMPOSED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 18. Charges of taking or killing more than 25 head of native game were preferred at the Police Court against Stanley Rayner, farmer, Huntly; D. A. Peckham, farmer, Ohinewai: Luke Hughes, dealer, Auckland; and Dr. F. J. Rayner, Auckland, by the Acclimatisation Society. Dr. Rayner and Hughes also were charged with being in possession of a protected bird, teal duck. Counsel for the defence said the defendants shot 28 braoe on May Ist, and 28 brace the following day. No doubt they under-estimated the number they were shooting. Air Poynton, S.M., fined Stanley Rayner and Peckham £lO each. In the second case the magistrate held .there was no prima facie case for conviction, and dismissed the charge.
