COLONIALS IN ENGLAND
RECEPTION AT HAMPTON COURT PARTY IN ST. JAMES’S PALACE. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Received July 19, 3.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. Overseas visitors to London were entertained royally yesterday, beginning with a garden party at Hampton Court Palaoe, at which 3000 people were present as the guests of the Government. Not all of ihem were from overseas, but each has some interest in Empire affairs. Mr Leopold Amery’s reception lasted nearly two hours. The scene in the lovely gardens, under almost tropical sunshine, was brilliant, and a veritable pageant of Empire. The Duke and Duchess of Wellington held an “at-home” to overseas visitors at the famous Apsley House. The Duke and Duchess of York’s party in the evening was mast successful. the fine old State rooms of St. James’s Palace forming a splendid setting. The guests included Lord and Lady Stonehaven. Sir Josenh and I,alnCo ok, Sir James and Ladv Allen. Sir James and Lady Elder, Mr ana Mrs George Fairbairn, Lord and Lady .Tellicoo. Sir Tom and Lady Bridges. Lord and Lady Novar, Mr and Mrs H. P. Colebateb, Sir Newton and Lady Moore, the Bishop of Rockhampton, and Miss Crick.
