END OF NEXT WEEK
NORTHLAND TUNNEL PIERCED. The Northland tramway tunnel should be pierced some time next week. There remains 14 feet of earth to be driven through by the tunnellers on the Karori side, who are doing something over one foot a day. Daylight should shine through the tunnel within eight days At the Northland end the work of erecting the portal goes on. One wing is up, and the reinforcing is being put up at present.
