PERSONAL AND GENERAL, (From Our Own Correspondent.) MASTERTOX, June 10. Councillor W. A. Tate has beea! elected Deputy-Mayor of Greytown. Air R. S. Halliwell has been appointed secretary of the Masterton Beautifying Society, in succession to Mr P. M. Velvin, who has resigned. Tho Rev. A. C. Yorke, who. according to a London cablegram, died suddenly while conducting a' service at Fowlmere, formerly had charge of St. Matthew’s parish at Masterton. Ho was appointed vicar of St. Matthew’s in 1894, and remained in Masterton; some years. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and was ordained in 1883 as deacon, and priest the following year. He filled the office of curate in Rockhampton in 1883. He was successively appointed to Bodalla (New South Wales), St. Mark’s (Fitzroy, Victoria). St. Matthew’s (Dunedin). St. Peter’s (Queenstown), and St. Matthew’s (Masterton). Mr R. M. Velvin, eecretary of tho Masterton Y.M.C.A., who will leave to-morrow to take up a similar position at -Hamilton, was entertained nt a farewell function at Masterton last, evening, and presented with a cheque by the board of managers and by the ladies’ class, and with a purse and book by the children’s gymnasium class.
