SUNDAY SCHOOLS UNION

The monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held on Thursday, when nineteen members were present. Mr H. D. Grocott, president, was in the chair.

A diploma of honour was granted to a gentleman who has been superintendent of a country school for over 25 years.

Arrangements were completed for the conduct of the scholars’ examination, to be held in July. This will he held under the joint management of the Auckland and Wellington unions, but each union will arrange for the examination of its own papers. The sub-committee appointed to arrange for teacher training reported that Mr J. Reid, 8.A., was willing to again conduct a class this winter. It was decided to have a social evening for teachers in May, when full arrangements would be made for the teacher training class. It was decided to issue a circular to schools inviting them to subscribe for the "Sunday School Herald,” a quarterly magazine now being published in Auckland, and which the union had been invited to take a share in.

Tho president reported that at the invitation of the Auckland Union he had visited them and discussed matters for co-operation in furthering Son (jay school work throughout the North Island. It was hoped that very shortly arrangements would be made for deputations to visit the important centres and arrange for the formation of a sub-union.

Some highly satisfactory results have been obtnined there, far in j excess of any previous results obtained in former epidemics, and an address from the person to whom should go most of the credit, will provide a unique opportunity of obtaining definite and accurate knowledge of this seemingly mysterious disease.
