A GOOD SEA BOAT

HOW SHE RODE A CALE SPLENDID BEHAVIOUR. An officer on the vessel who has been at sea for over 30 years informed a “Times” reporter that he had never seen such high seas as the Aorangi enoountered in the terrific _ gale she struck after leaving Vancouver. “They were mountains of water,” he said, “and we shipped a lot for’ard. One passenger slipped and broke his leg, and a stewardess -was badly cut about the head, while several passengers sustained minor hurts during the storm. “The Aorangi showed the kind of ship she is during the gale,” he added. “She rolled, of course —what vessel would’t in such a sea P—but she rode it beautifully, although we were hove to for a time. A portion of the bridge wag damaged, but she stood up to the buffeting well. She is a splendid sea boat, and very steady.” Many of the passengers spoken to confirmed the above statements, and all seemed impressed with the vessel’s behaviour in such a gale as raged for four days.
