OTAKI RIVER BOARD
POLL LOST BY ONE VOTE. ("Times” Correspondent.) ■ Voting on a loan proposal fnr .£.'9000 for river protective works took place on Wednesday, when practically all on the roll voted. A three-fifths majority was required, and when the official count was made known it was seen that tho poll to carry tbe proposal had been lost by one vote only. Voting was as follows: For the proposal 45 Against the proposal 33 Informal 2 Number required to vote to carry the proposal, 46. Mr Alex. Wilson, as returning officer, ably carried out his duties, while Mr S. Norgrove gave valuable assistance.
