HYDRO-ELECTRIC WORKS
JOURNALISTS AT ARAPUNI. RAPID PROGRESS OBSERVED. Per Press Association. OKOROIRF7, February 27. A number of members attending the Press Conference at Rotorua took advantage of the opportunity to visit the electric works at Aranuni and Horahora. At Arnpnni excellent progress has been made, and the operations are rapidly taking shape. When the new dam is erected it is expected it will form a lake 18 miles long and one mile wide. The principal work at present is concentrated on a tunnel to divert the Waikato while the dam is being built, but excavation is also in progress tor the wings of the dam and power-house. At Horahora a new dam is being erected, and the power-house is being extended.
