"A CATSPAW"
ILLICIT LIQUOR TRADER FINED. BEING USED BY WELL-KNOWN RESIDENTS. Per Press Aesociatiotv ASHBURTON, February 27. Thomas MfcGratn, an Australian, was fined £lO for holding liquor for sale in a no-license district. The magistrate observed that the accused was being "usco as a catspaw for other well-known residents. It was shown in evidence that he disposed of 20 bottles of whisky aiid two of ale in three or four hours.
