The New Hebrides group, about 500 miles west of Fiji is under the joint administration of British and French officials. This form of control repeatedly has been declared to be/inefficient and prejudicial to the interests of the native*. It has been suggested that Britain should endeavour to gain absolute control of tbe islands, but to this France is not likely to agree.
