KNIFED IN DARK
ENGINE-DRIVERS ATTACKED. JEALOUSY THE MOTIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. ) BRISBANE, February 26. While three men were walking through a cutting between Halifax and Macknade at night they were set upon with a knife by a man, who had evidently waited there. John Lawson received two severe stabs in the back, and is not expected to recover. William Harris received a deep stab in the chest, and died shortly after. The condition of the third man is at present unknown.
Both the injured men were enginedrivers. The attack is said to be due to jealousy. ,
David Ballinghal, another enginedriver, gave himself up to the police at Halifax, soon after the occurrence.
