FRESH IMPETUS
BRASS BAND CONTESTS. LARGE ENTRIES IN CHAMPIONSHIP. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 26. At the annual conference of delegates of the North Island Brass Bands Association, the annual report commented upon the satisfactory agreement between the North and South Island associations for the conduct of oontests alternatively in the North and South Island. The large entries for tlio first in Auckland had given a rresh impetus to brass bands generally, bringing together the finest bands in New Zealand to contest the championship. The following officers were elected: —President, Air Holben, Palmerston North; secretary, Mr Siddon, Wanganui ; treasurer, Air Breule, Wanganui; trustees, Alessrs Cohen, Williamson, and Colonel Dingle; executive committee, Alessrs Williamson (Auckland), Cattley, and Hooker (New Plymouth), Anderson and Crawford (Wanganui), Humphries and Hall (Wanganui), Barton (Atarton), Goodall (Wellington), Hale (Palmerston North).
