WELLINGTON HOSPITAL U.S.A. COLLEGE OF SURGEONS CONFERS HIGH HONOUR. FIVE N.Z. HOSPITALS ON LIST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 26, 9.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 25. Dr McEachien, director of the hospital standardisation committee of the American College of Surgeons, states that, following on a preliminary examination of an important group of Australian hospitals, the committee has approved them, and they are now qualified to be placed upon the college’s list of institutions whose practice and treatment of patients is scientifically high. This is considered a signal honour; and is one sought by all important American hospitals. , * Dr Franklin Martin, a former president of the cpllege, conducted the examination of Australian and New Zealand hospitals during a visit extending over the last two years. Dr McEachien will visit Australia and New Zealand next June, at the request of the British Medical Association, in connection with the standardisation work at the Dunedin Hospital, New Zealand, Which up to the present is the only Australian or New Zealand institution upon the college’s approved list. New Zealand hospitals now approved for inclusion in the list are the general hospitals ait Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Napier.
