A sensation was caused at the Hawke’s Bay Tennis Club’s courts at Napier (sa.vs the “Hawke’s Bay Tribune”) by a. car bounding through the high iron fence into the courts. 'The car was parked outside, facing the courts, hut was left in gear, and after the driver had got out, the starting gear for some unknown reason became engaged, and the car hounded forward over the kerbing and through' the fence, causing a number '■( lndv players to flv in confusion to the bn-- 1 ' limes. It eventually camo to a standstill and was afterwards removed Writs driver, no extensive damage beyond that done to the fence being caused. ,T t was reported to the Hospital Board yesterday that donations of £1 had been received from Mr L. Davies and three others, end also £1 from “a mother of two.” Mar ton.
