ARGENTINA SHAKEN

SEVERE SHAKE IN MENDOZA. STAMPEDE , OF PEOPLE. (Svdnsy “Sun” Cable.) BUENOS AIRES December 16. Mendoza, the capital of the province of that name, experienced severe earthquake shocks early last night, and the inhabitants fled to the parks and suburbs. Glass doors and windows were shattered. Many people were injured when the crowds in the cafes stampeded. Simultaneous shocks were recorded in the provinces of Tucuman and San Luis. . Mendoza, which has a population of 50,000, is 600 miles _ north-west of Buenos Aires. The city was destroyed by earthquake in 1861.
