THE BRODIE CUP. . -The first distance, 50 yards, of ttto Brodie Cup was swum off by the Mmanui Club at the Tepid Baths last night. There were three heats as there were 16 entries for the cup. The swimming was of a good standard, and the finihes were all very dose. Tba handicapping was excellently carried out, with tie result that there were excellent tussles fon places. Following were the results:— First Host. —Adams ftlsccl, 1; Diaper (14sec), 2; time, 2Ssec. Second Heat. —E. Hughes (lOsec), I| Turner (3sec>, 2; time. 35 3-ssee. Third Heat. —Alexander (lfixec). 1; Kirk (osec), 2; time, 38sec. Final —Turner. 1; Hughes, 2; time, 26sec. CENTRE RACE. The first race over 50 yards, of the Swimming Centre’s weekly aeries was swum off at tho Te Are Bathe on Tuesday evening. The form shown was of a high standard, and al lthree placed men swam particularly well. Salek, who failed to touch in with the first three, swam a good race however, and showed improved form. There was • dead-heat for first place. Look, Allen, and J. Cameron all touching the board together. There wero ten starters. Tne centre holds its next race on Tuesday night next.
