PERSONAL AND GENERAL. , , The death occurred at Manakau last week of two of Mr MoHardy’s children, due to whooping cough, followed by bronchial pneumonia. A third was on Monday taken into hospital, while a fourth, daughter of Mr Jarir Thompson, sucriumbed on Saturday from the same complaint. All were very young children. Several meetings have been held here in connection with loan proposals for water, drainage, and bridges, and on each occasion _Mr Brandon (Mayor) hes fully explained the proposals. He was, however, questioned at length by Oppositionists. The State school hoye defeated eleven parents at cricket on Saturday by an - innings and eleven runs. In the first innings the parents’ score included seven “dqoks” and in the second “six.” : Oldtime cricketers fared as badly as the new hands. The bowling of the solioolboya was very fine.—(Own correspondent.)
