INQUIRY DURING RECESS. PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE TO BE APPOINTED. y It is announced that Cabinet haa decided to set np a Committee of members of Parliament to inquire during the recess into the whole question of racing methods in the Dominion. The order of reference will be much wider than that of the committee which is at present considering the Gaming Amendment Bill. It is expected that the names of the members of /the Committee will be made known towards the end of the session. The Committee will sit in Wellington, but it will, not commence its inquiries until after the New Year. During the second reading discussion on the Gaming Amendment Bill •. several members of the House made sweeping allegations in regard to the conduct of racing and racing methods generally. An opportunity will now be afforded, for these charges to be substantiated before the Recess Committee The Committee will also deal with the question as to whether bookmakers should or should not be licensed in the Dominion.
