A crowd of 500 collected. The officers carried' out some' of the furniture, but sympathisers swarmed in the house and hampered the work, compelling the officers to desist. The widow meanwhile had a seizure, and a doctor was summoned. The' crowd became threatening, and, the officers - drove off in a motor-par, pelted with - clouds of grass and stones. The crowd afterwards car ried the furniture hack into the house. Subsequently, several Labour town councillors addressed the crowd, and a local oomrtiittee was formed to organise a campaign of resistance in the event of house factors declining to join The rent tribunal A general rent strike throughout the district may -be declared.
