HANNAN v. ARNST. SQUABBLE OVER TITLE. ‘“ex Press Association. HAMILTON, September 11. In view of the sculling race between Hannan and Amst having been fixed to be rowed on tho Waikato river on October 25thi, a controversy has arisen with reference to Hannan’s claim tc tho Australasian title. To-day Mr G. Cteruti, of Sydney, as honorary secretary, has published a letter from tho New South Wales Sculling league, which in effect <onfirms the cable message claiming McDovitt aa tho Australasian champion. Hannan, in reply, referred to Mr H. deal’s published interview on behalf of tho Auckland Committee controlling the Hannan-McDavitt race on the Waitemata, in whioh interview Mr Cleal stated MoDeviit admitted after Hannan had beaten him that Hannan was champion.
