SCHOONER ASHORE

ALL THE GREW SAFE. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, July 8. The schooner War Lord was driven ashore during a gale last evening on the Opoutama beach, Mahia, and is now high and dry. The crew is safe. The vessel is reported to be undamaged. “IN NO DANGER" MESSAGE FROM CAPTAIN. A telegram received by the Marine Department from the captain of the War Lord states that the vessel went ashore at Waikokopu (about 22 miles east of Wairoa bar) on Monday night, owing to the anchor cable parting during a southerly blow. The captain also reported that the schooner was in no danger, and was not Inaking any water. Be expected to refloat the vessel when the weather moderated. "
