DRUNK MAN IN CHURCH
ALTAR CLOTH DRAGGED OFF. PEOPLE DISMAYED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 32. A man named Joseph Martin was re manded on a charge of maliciously damaging the candlesticks and sanctuary lamps at St. Mary’s Cathedral, to the extent of £ls. While the service was in progress, the rose from his knees, and stepping over the Communion rail, dragged the altar cloth down, and scattered the sacred vessels about the building, creating much dismay among the congregation. The police stated in evidence that 'Martin had been examined and was mentally right, but he was drunk at the time ot the occurrence.
