CLEANING UP A CITY

A telegram from Reading, in Pennsylvania, says that the Governor’s (Mr. Pmohofs) State troops, widening this sector of operation, raided eight saloons and confiscated large amounts of bootleg liquor, whereupon the Mayor served a drastic notice giving the municipal police 24 hours in which to apprehend the liquor violators, or submit their resignations. The announcement plainly intimated that so-called “high voltage” beer in being constantly, manufactured Ire a local brewery in 'which State officials are interected. It was reported yesterday that mounted State troopers, at the Governor’s orders, were selling out to do nhat the Federal Prohibition officers and the local police had failed to do—t enforce the Prohibition laws.
