PLAY BARRED IN SYDNEY AN ANCIENT LAW. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 20. When the City Council was discuss ing the question of charges for Sunday tennis on the courts in the public parks, an alderman pointed out that an old Act was in existenoe which prevented the playing of games in public places on a Sunday. The Lord Mayor thereupon rulod that the word “Sunday” in the scale of charges for tennis-playing in the parks must he struck out, thus leaving provision for week-day play only. A Labour alderman entered a protest against tennis players being haired, and foreshadowed a. motion placing other games in a similar position.
