CUSTODIAN GETS A BLACK EYE AND BECOMES A SPECIAL CONSTABLE. Though the duties of the custodians of pubßc buildings are such as to be generally disohargeable with the assistance of a little tact, it would appear that there are times when more virile qualifications are required. As a sequel to suoh an occasion, a recommendation came before the City Council last night that the custodian of the Town Hall he appointed a special constable. “What does this arise out of?” asked a councillor. The Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright): In the ooui6e of hia duties the other night, our custodian got mixed up in a disturbance, and although he got the better of the oonflict, He also got a black eye. This is a proposal to give him a greater measure of authont*e recommendation was agreed to.
