CHAMPION RINKS CONTEST. FINE WIN BY HATAITAI CLUB. The semi-final and the final of thtf Wellington Centre cfcampion of cham« pions rinks contest were played, off ott the Victoria green yesterday, resulting in a fine win by G&taitai, the runnersup being the Central Club, Petone. SEMI-FINAL. The semi-final games resulted as un* tier:— Central.—Foster, Fisher, Senior, BeJ> non (s), 22. Kelburn—Smith, Nicholls, Doherty, Routley (s), IS. Hataitai. —Moeller, Commetti, Halliday, Ardell (s), 19. Island Bay—Kerr, Herron, Taylor, Hall (s), 17. In the Hataitai-island Bay game the scores were 17 all in the 21st head, and on the extra heads Hataitai scored two. The Central Club played an extraordinarily good game, heating Kelburn by a substantial margin. Bejmon was playing at the top of his form. In one head, when Kelburn lay 5, Beynon drew tho shot, but his opponent carried the kitty through, and lay 7. With his last, however, Beynon sent down a . lovely bowl, and drew the shot again. ' In the game Hataitai v. Island Bay ( on the 20th head Island Bay "burnt tM bead.” The 21st head wae a'tie ; but on playing the extra head Hataitai won after a very keen contest, thus qualifying for the final game with Central. THE FINAL. In the final, Hataitai played rathef better than against Island Bay, and Beynon’s team went off somewhat. On the 9th head the score stood: Hataitai 15, Central 3. The Petone team gradually drew wp to 15, ' but in the meantime Hataitai had increased the score by 10, and thus won by 25 to 15. Central put up a good fight, Beynon himself playing very well, but they were outplayed. EASTBOURNE CLUB.
