DRAW AT NAPIER HOME TEAM PLAY OUT TIME. POOR WORK IN FIELD. Per PreSß Association. NAPIER, March 16. The match New South Wales v. East Coast concluded to-day, and ended in a draw. The weather was delightful, and there was a large attendance. The wicket wore and played well. The visitors continued their innings «t 11.50 a.m. and closed at 3.65 for 411, a feature being the enterprising batting of Hendry (100), Andrews (78), Kippax (93), and Mullarkey (45). The others gave the bowlers very little trouble, although W. Bardsley was unfrfctunate, getting a doubtful Ibw decision against him. The local bowling showed a great improvement, Lord, a young break bowler, creating a very favourable impression. The home team’s ground fielding waz good, but the catching was very faulty, numerous chances being missed. In wicketkeeping Campbell was very weak, and missed no. fewer than five easy chances of stumping. Hendry gave five chances in the compilation of his score, and the others' were also badly let off. The home side commenced its second innings at 4.16, and succeeded in playing out time, losing five wickets for 91 runs. The howling of Mailey and Macartney kept the batsmen quiet.
