PITCHED BATTLE
MANY COLORUMS KILLED FORCES INSUFFICIENT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 28, 8 p.m.) MANILA, January 27. The constabulary is fighting a pitched battle with Colorums, who have been engaged in roving banditry. The Colorums killed number 54, and a considerable number of prisoners we» taken. The constabulary, which has been concentrated in an effort to wipo out the fanatics, is proving to be not large enough to cope with the unrestwhich, it is ,believ<Ml, will require the activities of regular army troops since it has infected a large, part of the southern Philippine region.
