MAINTENANCE CASE
“THIS MAN I® A HUMBUG.” A certain maintenance case had been adjourned from week to week on the application of counsel for the defendant and the disposition of the counsel for the plaintiff had not been improved by these adjournments. When the case was heard at the Police Court yesterday, defendant’s counsel hurled invectives at the head of the defendant. ‘ This man is a humbug from, heguning to end,” cried counsel, “he has ill-treated the compl .inant, '.his wife and ——” At this stage an objection was raised by counsel for the defendant, who declared that as his client was not at court, the complainant’s counsel had no right to use such language. After 10 minutes debate, the matter was settled to the satisfaction of at least one party.
