“ POINCARE’S ECONOMIES. EFFECT OF BILL. ■Australian and N.Z Cih'.o Association LONDON, January 24. The Paris correspondent of “The Express” savs that if M. Poincare’s Bill against foreign importations passes, hjmdreds of British firms in France will be affected, and may be compelled to close down. Campaigns exhorting the people not to buy British goods, particularly groceries)- -are being waged in several newspapers. - M. Pbincare has tabled a Bill authorising the prohibition of the importation of foreign goods not corresponding Kith national necessities, with a view to the restoration of the franc.
