A FINE IMPOSED
THEFT OF PIPE AND POUCH. William Harrison Cowie appeared at the Police Court yesterday, charged with the theft of a pipe and tobaccopouch, valued at £1 lls 6d, the' property of Ngawaka Periki. The theft, it was alleged, took place in a hotel, where the complainant had temporarily put down the articles. After evidence had been heard, the defendant was fined £6, in default one month’s imprisonment. He was ordered to report daily to the detective office, and to make restitution to Periki of tho value of the goods. A week was given in which to pay the fine.
