MAGISTRATE’S COURT

YESTERDAY’S SITTING. DOUCE AND SUMMONS OASES. Mr E. Page, S.M., dealt with police and summons cases at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Two first offenders for insobriety were fined ss, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Another offender was fined the amount of his bail, 10s. John March, a greaser from tho s.s. Mahia, was sentenced to three weeks’ imprisonment for deserting from his ship. SUMMONS CASES. Appearing on summons C. G. Watt was fined £1 and costs, for failing to close his shop at the specified time. Hugh Badger and John Curran were each fined £2 and costs on charges of being on licensed premises after hours. For failing to stamp a receipt, Ohai les V. Elford was fined £1 and costs. Procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order cost George 11. Murrey £1 and costs. Edward Gallichman was fined £2 and costs, for failing to make an income tax return.
