ANNUAL PICNIC

SCOTTISH SOCIETY AND PIPE BAND. The annual picnic of the Scottish Society and the Pipe Band of Wellington, was held at Maidstone Park on Anniversary Day under ideal conditions. ■ A large numbeer of members availed themselves of the opportunity for a day’s outing “amang their ain folk,” and a most enjoyable time was spent. Members of the Pipe Band were present, rendering many selections and providing the music for the dancers. A comprehensive programme of sports and games was drawn up, the younger members of the Society being specially catered for. The Highland dancing events drew large entries and some very keen contests ensued for the Beenie Ballantyne Memorial Cup and the aggregate points medals. The picnio was undoubtedly a great success, the arrangements being in the capable hands of the following committee;— chief, Capt. C. McArthur: chieftains, L. McKenzie and G. Lachlan; treasurer, N. MoLean; secretary, W. E. Boyd; and Messrs Anderson, Hands, Stokes and MacDougall.
