TIMARU WOOL SALE
PRICES SATISFACTORY. Per Press Association. TTMARTJ, December 17. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, when 13,771 bales were offered. There warn an attendance of buyers representing Bradford, America, France, Belgium, and Germany, besides Dominion woollen mills and local scourers being present. The wool opened out in better condition than usual, and consisted principally of fine medium and crossbreds. There were a few book country merino clips which carried a fair amount of condition, but the South Canterbury superior half-hredds did net compare favourably with North Canterbury's clip, the latter being bet ter grown and showing more quality and higher condition. Taking this into account, the prices compare more than favourably with the recent Christchurch sates. Bidding throughout was keen, although slow at times. The prices realised are considered very satisfactory to growers, and practically every lot was sold. RANGE OF PRICES.
