OPENING THE TOMB
INVESTIGATION OF SHRINE. MORE TREASURES FOUND. Australian and N.Z. Gable Association. (Received November 23, 8.45 p.m.) LONDON, November 23. The “Morning Post” special correspondent at Luxor states that Air Howard Carter investigated the interior of the first shrine. The Egyptian Government’s seals on the second are still unbroken. Mr Carter found between the first and the second shrines several treasures, including four jars, two of them are stated to be of alabaster. Other pottery ware was also discovered, symbols of a duck, and what are believed to apes. The Egyptian Government", in a communique, states that the Government will distribute news of the exploration of the tomb daily, and facilitate visits of 15 journalists to the interior each fortnight. The Government vindicates its authority over the tomb by stating that the staff of the antiquities department in the Valley of the Tombs has been strengthened, in order to ensure continuous close supervision. The ohief inspector and three other officials have been delegated for this purpose.
