SWIMMING
CLAUDE PERRITT SHIELD. The final for the Olympia Club’s Claude Perritt Shield called forth, a good muster at the Te Aro Baths yesterday. The times for the three heats over the 50 yards course were all fairly good, and although no startling performances were recorded they were quite creditable, The results were a® follow: First heat —N. V. Cox (6sec), 1} E. 8. Evans (8), 2; F. Adams (4), 3. Time, 31 2-ssec. Second heat—L. Salek (3sec), 1; T. Po, cock (3), 2; C. H. Barrett (4), 3. Time, Final—N. V. Cox, 1; E. S. Evans, 2; Borach, 3. Time, 31sec. The placed men were all close together at the finish. PRESIDENT’S CUP. The final race over a 50 yards course was swum by members of the Wellington Club on Wednesday for the President’s Cup at Te Aro Bath®. The results were— Edwards (6eec), 1: Howie (5), 2; Winstanley (4), 3. Tune, 30 2-ssec. The race was closely contested, tofich only separating the placed men. Mr R. Smith acted a® starter. PETONE LEAGUE’S OPENING. Owing to unfavourable weather condn tions last Saturday, the Petone Amateur Swimming League postponed its opening day until to-day, when the 50 yards race will be held.
