BITTEN BY SNAKE
MAN USES NICOTINE. FATAL CONSEQUENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. SYDNEY, October 30. Thomas Nagle, aged 53, .'while walking on the river bank at Alburj, encountered a tiger snake, and at the same time 'felt a sharp prick on the calf of his right leg. Ho scarified the leg on the spot, and rubbed nicotine from the stem of his pipe into the wound. After receiving medical attention he walked home, where he collapsed, and was removed to the hospital. Subsequently he died. An examination showed that he had not 'been, bitten by the snake, and that death was duo to nicotine poisoning. The well-known sire Mimer. which sired 18 winners last season, died at Casino, after being bitten on the lower lip by a snake.
