ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS.

At the meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council last night there were present—The Mayor plr W. T. Strand), and Councillors A. J. Hobbs, D 7 A. Ewen. A. Mcßain, E. W. Hunt, L. T. Watkins, A. F. Roberts, H. G. Teagle, and W. G. Meldrum. Colonel T. W. McDonald forwarded his F’ otograph, and stated that he would be pleased to have it placed in the Council Chambers. —It was agreed that it-should be hung on the wall along with those of other ex-Mayore of the borough. The Department of Health recommended that the yearlv “clean-up** day or week should be. held.

The inspector reported that under the present arrangement this was not at present deemed necessary. The council decided to take no action. OFFICERS* REPORTS.

The borough inspector in his report stated that two cases of infectious di« eases had been reported—one of sc&xlev fever and one of erysipelas. The estates committee, in its report, stated that it had resolved to ask Mr Leighton to sell by public auction the building occupied by Mr Meyrick, and the Arcade buildings, at the earliest opportunity, and also the sections on either side of the Family Hotel, provided th.it satisfactory arrangements could be madf with regard ;o the lease. # I
