MR TUCKER SELECTOR YOUNG PLAYERS CHOSEN FOR COACHING PURPOSES. AN UNPLAYED FIXTURE. The Wellington Cricket Association met last evening. Mr C. G. Wilson presided, and there were present also—Messrs H. J. Buck, B. L. Salmon, P. B. Broad, F. W. Martin, A. Ronaldson, H. M. McGirr W. R. Bock, C\ R, T. Hewitt. D. Mclvenzie, and Berry. An application was made for the transfer from the Petone to the Wellington College Club of A. K. Hamilton. The application was not granted. It was decided to notify certain clubs that unless their practice nets ore repaired by November 13th the caretaker will be instructed not to erect them. The Marist Old Boys Association asked for a reconsideration of its application for a practice wicket on the Basin Reserve, ft wicket not having been allotted this year. The meeting regretted that a wicket was not available. PLAYERS TO BE COACHED. Messrs D. McKenzie and P. B. Broad recommended that the following ten young players should be asked to attend coaching practice:—W., D. Sykes, , Kilbirnie: O. Johnson, St. Patrick's College; P. Pool, Eastbourne; J. Ell, Johnsonville; J. A. Wellington, Selwyn; F. Smith, Y.M.C.A.j R. Nhkless, Railway; U. V. Edwards, Petone; and C. Mailman, Central Mission. It was recommended that should any of the above fail to attend regularly their places should be filled in the order named by G. Riddell, Bt. Patrick's College; H. Jones, EastboTirne; W. G. Murie, Y.M.C.A.;, A. Barber, Petone; A. Carr, Wellesley College. Coaching practice is to start at the Basin Reserve at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6th. SOLE SELECTOR. ! A letter was received from Mr K. H. Tucker saying he would accept the position of sole selector. SATURDAY'S FIXTURES. The following are the senior fixtures for Saturday next: —Petone v. Hutt, at Hutt; Midland ▼. Thorndon, at Baein Reserve No. 2; Wellington ▼, Institute, at Kelburn; Old Boys v. Y.M.C.A., at Basin Reserve No. 1 LYALL BAY'S HARD LUCK. The Lyall Bay Club wrote drawing attention to a matter respecting its third A fixture, set down to be played between Lyall Bay and Hutt last Saturday. The letter said the Lyall Bay team set out for the Hutt ground in a motor 'bus which broke down. They telephoned to the Hutt captain that they were delayed and then hired taxies and proceeded to the ground. The Hutt captain claimed the match and refused to play. The secretary of the Hutt Club wrote to the effect that the club wished to dissociate itself from the action of the captain; it considered that under the special circumatances the match ought to have been played. It was resolred that if at the end of the season it was found that the fixture would have a bearing on the championship the fixture should be played ou a city ground. ! The opinion was expressed that the 1 Lyall Bay team had made every effort to [get to the ground as soon as possible.
