ECONOMIC QUESTIONS
ARBITRATION AWARDS. ADVOCATED. Renter's Telegiam. (Received October 27, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, October The Economic Conference unanimously expressed the opinion that the reciprocal enforcement of arbitration awards wherever possible throughout the EVnpire was highly desirable. The Canadian and Australian representatives said they were prepared to recommend this policy, but stated that they were unable to impose it on the Provincial or State Legislatures. Thirteen hundred delegates are attending the Unionist Conference at Plymouth, which is the first held since the breaking up of the Coalition. The conference adopted a resolution affirming that the welfare of the country depended upon closer economic union with the dominions, stressing the vital Importance of intor-Empire trade. The Economic Conference decided to appoint a committee of experts t-o consider tho whole question of Imperial currency. It is understood delegates complained mainly of the discount rate and bank charges on tho transmission of money between Britain and the Do minions, which they declared to be at together too high.
