DOMINION MAKES GOOD SHOW

AUCKLAND, October 26. In forestry achievements New Zealand with India was able to make the best showing at the British Imperial Forestry Conference, held at Ottawa, said Captain Mclntosh Ellis, who returned by tho Niagara from Canada to-day. The conference, he added, should prove of great value in consolidating and broadening the policy tihrouglxcrtuit the Oamida’fV timber resources were being consumed at an enormous rate by forest fires, and tho activities of pulp and paper companies. On the Pacific Coast of the United -States tho life of private forests, it was estimated, would not extend above 15 to 20 years. A lesson for New Zealand was the need for consolidating and broadening her iorest conservation policy.
