LONDON, October 26. The reply to the British Note by Mr 0. R. Hughes, Secretary of State, concludes with what the “Morning Post” describes as “an ominous suggestion.” This deals with Lord Curzon’s inquiry whether Britain and the majority or the Allies could hope for the co-operation of the United fftates, supposing it were proposed to hold a reparations inquiry without complete unanimity. Mr Hughes replies: “In that case, the United States must reserve its decision regarding its course of action, in order that the course may be taken which will give the best promise of ultimate in securing the desired end—the re-establishment of the essential conditions for European peace and economic restoration.” * PREMIERS DELAYED CONFERENCE PROLONGED.
