OTAKI BOROUGH

HEALTH OFFICER’S REPORT. The following is the report of tho health officer (Mr J. W. Huggins):—’ “During the month inspections have been made in tho business area, and ittj one residential area. Some of these were made in company with the bor,’ough engineer. In my opinion it would be better to leave the “clean-up week,” as suggested by the Chamber of Comtmieroe, to a later date, say, perhaps •next month. The offer of the Chamber to assist is very gratifying. Regarding the matter of Maori whares, mentioned also by the Ghamfber of Commerce, I have forwarded the copy of their letter to the medical officer of health, with) ■a recommendation that it should bo Referred to the director, division of Maori hygiene, for action by the Native Health Oouncal. Of if there are 'anv particular cases requiring qxgent attention, I would be pleased to bo notified. “The Plumbers’ Board lhas notified! you definitely regarding unregistered! that now means that youwill be to accept applications from other than registered plumbers for drainage, sanitary plumbing, or water work in the borough. Any unregistered plumber doing this work in. the borough will be committing a breach of the law, and inspection will not be made by me of any work done by them. As far as I can see, there should be no reason why these unregistered plumbers should not sit for the examination and become registered. This would get over the difficulty.”
